Inside the Cattle Lanes
Inside the Cattle Lanes follows Peter and Judy Milton, two farmers from the Southwest of Western Australia who call the Claremont Showgrounds home for 12 days each year during the Perth Royal Show. The story moves between the camaraderie and competition of show life and a harder subject underneath it: depression in farming communities, and the isolation that comes with rural life.
Peter and Judy have spent years supporting the work of Steve Andrews, founder of The Black Dog Ride, which raises awareness about depression among farmers. At the Perth Royal Show, they use their platform among fellow farmers to keep that conversation going, turning a competitive, social event into an opening for a subject rural communities rarely discuss openly.
